Lake
Villa VFW Memorial Post #4308 is a gathering place and community resource. We
value service, our heritage, our members and the community. OUR MISSION: To
foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve
our veterans, the military, and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all
veterans. We are always open to new Veterans and their families to join us.
Lake Villa VFW Memorial Post
#4308 was founded in June of 1954 in the spirit of camaraderie. The Post has
grown considerably over the years and retains approximately
200 members annually. We strive to maintain a welcoming atmosphere for
veterans, their families and supporters.
Our post offers a canteen (open 7 days a week-daily
specials), pool and horseshoes (we sponsor leagues for these activities),
karaoke (3rd Friday each month), banquet hall, queen of hearts (Tuesdays and
Fridays) and video gaming.
As a post we also work very hard to support our community. Some of our
activities include: annual golf outing, local parades, supporting organizations
such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Our post also comes together with our
community to hold fundraisers for non-profit groups, which includes: Friends of
the Library, the VA Hospital, Winchester House, National Home for Children,
other VFW's, veteran groups and causes.
Annually, the nearly 2 million members of the VFW and its
Auxiliaries contribute more than 8.6 million hours of volunteerism in
the community, including participation in Make A Difference Day and
National Volunteer Week.
From providing over $3 million in college scholarships and savings
bonds to students every year, to encouraging elevation of the Department
of Veterans Affairs to the president's cabinet, the VFW is there.
